An event of both colorful and musical intensity and vividness.
Jenny Klukken is a classically-trained percussionist turned jazz/world musician. Performing primarily on the marimba, Jenny combines her technical training on the instrument with world, jazz, and folk music. Her compositions fuse her many musical interests; the complex rhythms of Latin America, the improvisational freedom of jazz, and the singable lines of American folk music. Her approach to the marimba, an otherwise classical chamber-ensemble instrument, is unique, approachable, and enjoyable for all types of listeners. For the first time, Klukken will start the evening with an Art Show of her intensely colorful acrylic flow paintings. Art viewing will also be available during intermission and after the concert.
All proceeds from ticket and art sales will go to Klukken's latest project, recording her debut album.
