Jenny Klukken is a jazz and world music marimbist: an improviser, composer, and creative explorer of the instrument.

Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jenny breaks boundaries for the marimba with her unique approach: combining a classical percussion background with jazz, world, and folk music into a sound that makes the marimba approachable for all types of listeners.

With a refreshingly new approach, Jenny Klukken is breaking down boundaries for the marimba, allowing people to enjoy it by bringing it out of its somewhat prescribed environment and at the same time, maintaining a high degree of musical sophistication through her compositions and improvisations. It is a joy for me to listen to her creative voice on this instrument and to see her building bridges between the more established “academic” world and that where the marimba can function for a wider population. Truly an artist with a unique voice and someone to keep your eye on in the future!
