Jenny Klukken : Creative, Crossover marimbist

Jenny Klukken transports the modern marimba out of the recital hall and into the great beyond. As a creative and collaborative marimbist, she is passionate about captivating new audiences for the instrument. She centers the 5 octave marimba, leading ensemble(s) and performing original music and arrangements in jazz venues, arts festivals, listening rooms, and more.

Claimed in the press as a “marimba prowess”, Jenny combines her classically-trained virtuosity with her genre-blending perspective as a bandleader and songwriter, presenting a musical experience you have to see to fully appreciate.

A fluent improviser and passionate educator, Jenny Klukken leads workshops and clinics all over the USA, teaching young percussionists to embrace jazz, folk, and world music styles at the marimba. An honored grant-winner, Jenny as travelled extensively to explore and expand the marimba’s place in the music world.

Among many collaborative recordings, her two full length albums “Color in Motion” (2021) and “Marimba Standard” (2026), feature her technical agility and sonic storytelling as a compelling and unique mallet player.
